Chris Taylor says they ”spent a lot of money” in the core game and its IP and may be able to ”make some of the money back” with a sequel.
”We made an investment in that game and we spent a lot of money on it. Now, some things have happened since that; we’ve got a lot of interest in a sequel to Demigod,” said Gas Powered Games boss Chris Taylor, of Total Annihilation fame.
”Maybe the kids will go to college if we do a really good job on the sequel, and we can make some of the money back that we invested in the core game and the core IP.” Demigod was plagued with piracy when it first hit as over 120k games were played online but only 18k copies had been bought. It was bitter lesson for Stardock Games.
”If you’re playing a pirated copy right now, if you’re one of those people on Hamachi or GameRanger playing a pirated copy and have been for more than a few days, then you should either buy it or accept that you’re a thief and quit rationalizing it any other way,” Taylor responded at the time, with GPG obviously upset.
Demigod released exclusively on PC April 14th 2009. Would you like a sequel?
