In an open letter to shareholders on the company’s website, they explain how they’ve now had to call in a Receiver - a neutral third-party appointed by the courts to oversee the management of a company in trouble.
Stargate Worlds had recently been sidelined in favour of a multiplayer-only FPS called Stargate Resistance, which was released last month. According to the letter, that game has been sold to a new company called Fresh Start Studios, which had been set up by Cheyenne shareholders ”in an effort to preserve the game and prevent it from going offline because they felt there was no other alternative”.
This means however that there’s unlikely to be the Stargate MMO in the near future, if at all.
”With regard to actual operations, game development has ceased. Not to be redundant, but there are no employees.”
