In fact this ‘streaming game portal’ would permit Xbox 360 games to be launchable on any capable device, as Microsoft expands their Xbox Live platform.
It was already heavily rumoured that Windows 8 would support Xbox 360 titles but it seems this is how Microsoft intends to follow through with the feature: cloud gaming.
”Having recently announced cloud storage for Xbox 360 gamers, it seems likely that Microsoft Studios will make available a game streaming service, allowing Xbox 360 games to be played on console, smartphone, tablet or PC,” reports Electronic Theatre.
”Microsoft Studios has already seen minor success with regards to these types of application thanks to the likes of Full House Poker, an Xbox Live Arcade and Windows Phone 7 title that has proven to be a fertile testing ground, though things may be taken much further in the coming year.” Xbox Live functionality will continue to expand and evolve.
Microsoft has talked up a ”single ecosystem” for all devices, aiming to nurture ”coherence and consistency” across multiple platforms and end incompatibility between devices. Xbox Live has been announced to be a major part of Windows 8 when it launches.
Do you hope Microsoft also support Xbox 360 titles on PC using a disc?
