Microsoft sounds less than impressed with Nyko, stating that Kinect has been thoroughly tested for ”performance, accuracy and environmental conditions”.
Japan-based Nyko say they’re ”proud of the design and technology accomplishments achieved with the Zoom”, and they’ve filed for multiple patents to ”ensure the first and only play space reduction lens for Kinect remains a mainstay of the Nyko line”.
It’s due for release this August and lets Kinect use 40 less space to operate in a room. ”Kinect has been tested for performance, accuracy and environmental conditions thoroughly. Any modification can impact the overall performance of Kinect,” said Microsoft.
Will Microsoft be challenging Nyko? Microsoft has never been too friendly with 3rd party peripherals on the Xbox 360 platform. Does the Zoom appeal to your living space? For more information visit the official Nyko Zoom product page on their website.
