Publisher Activision, ever the vanguard of courtroom justice, has won their case against those responsible for the heinous act of spoofing Modern Warfare 3.
The domain ‘ModernWarfare3.com’ indefensibly, it turns out, redirected to EA’s Battlefield 3 homepage. This affrontage was challenged and slain valiantly.
Activision took their complaint to the National Arbitration Forum over the website domain registration and was able to convince them it was ”confusingly similar” to a trademark held by the mega publisher - something by the name Call of Duty, or whatever.
The current owner was found to have registered the name in ‘bad faith’ with no right or legitimate interest in holding the address except to lampoon poor Modern Warfare 3. You can check out the findings by the National Arbitration Forum here. Caution: it’s boring.
