He believes Sony will need to compensate studios, or help them out somehow given the PSN outage costing them revenue. PixelJunk is predominantly online.
”At the moment I think they are running around patching holes etc., and in a week or two they’ll have something more concrete to say,” said Cuthbert. Capcom have already said that the PlayStation Network being down is costing them millions potentially.
There’s no indication that Sony will be compensating studios. “I have no idea yet what Sony are going to do to help developers such as ourselves,” he said, referring more to indie outfits who rely on the likes of PlayStation Network to stay in operation.
He adds, “but I have a feeling they are thinking about doing something or they will lose developers which of course is pretty bad for them.” This week Brink will release for PS3, alongside other platforms, and it focuses mostly on online play.
There remains no firm timetable for PSN’s return to service.
