Things just get worse for Sony. Since Geohot’s rootkey exploit, a new homebrew software allows the jailbreak users to unlock Trophies without actually having to play the games. The homebrew application allegedly allows PS3 users who have modified their console to unlock all Trophies in a PS3 title instantly and automatically, with random timestamps.
Sony has issued a statement stating they will look to fix issues for hacking in general via network updates: ”We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details.”
Sony is getting a lesson they won’t soon forget in their first foray into console online networks: if you’re going to have an online network, you best darned well make sure it’s more secure than just having all of your protection on the console itself.
