Relationships motivate to do ”amazing, or terrible, things” and it’s a ”brilliant subject to explore,” as they did in Enslaved. ”Obviously not” happy with sales.
”I think relationships are what makes us who we are. It’s relationships that drive us to do amazing, or terrible, things. I think it’s a brilliant subject to explore,” said ‘Chief Development Ninja’ Nina Kristensen. Enslaved follows two very different characters.
”We did a complete history of the world, all sorts of plagues and financial crises, massive wars. We made up all sorts of stuff just to give us a back story. There are different types of mechs, some from wars that happened 50 years ago, some from wars that happened 100 years ago, there’s an evolution of those things sitting in the world,” she added.
They’ve certainly got the lore in place to expand the franchise if it gets greenlit. Screenwriter Alex Garland, who wrote The Beach, penned the Enslaved script. Voice talent came from the likes of Andy Serkis, best known for his role as Lord of the Rings’ Gollum.
”When you look at a lot of projects, you can tell the few that got the actors together to work, there are relatively few that do that,” said ‘Chief Technology Ninja’ Mike Ball. All captured performances for Enslaved were done with the actors together.
These voice actors got to meet each other and react to one another in person, which is not true for the majority of other recorded works in videogames. Check out the Ars Technica piece with Enslaved’s Ninja Theory discussing its world.
