Railworks has announced the third game in their train and railway simulation series, Railworks 3: Train Simulator 2012, which will be released for PC on September 23, 2011.
The publisher promises that Train Simulator 2012 will be the most advanced train simulator in the world, with stunning graphics and physics that are accompanied by 15 detailed locomotives from the age of steam to present day. The game includes eight different routes, which feature authentic signalling, stations and landscaping.
The game also has a feature called the “RS Career System” that allows players to compete against other drivers around the world. Players can also create routes and collect downloadable locomotives, stock and routes. Built-in tutorials make it easy for newcomers to get in the cab and start playing right away.
For players who are worried that they’ll have to repurchase all of the content they assembled with the previous game, Railworks 2.0, the publisher promises, ”Any DLC you have purchased from RailSimulator.com for RailWorks or RailWorks 2 will continue to work with Train Simulator 2012. Any DLC you purchase from us up to and after the launch of Train Simulator 2012 will also be compatible. We also plan to upgrade existing DLC over time to take full advantage of the new Train Simulator 2012 technology. This programme will commence shortly after the release of Train Simulator 2012, starting with the NEC. A full schedule of DLC upgrades will be announced in due course.” Players won’t even have to purchase a full game, either - Railworks states they’ll be able to update their game to Train Simulator 2012.
