The JRPG was first announced back in 2006 alongside Final Fantasy XIII but has otherwise remained a mystery. There is no name change for Versus XIII.
As Agito was rebranded Type-0 there was speculation Square might follow suit with Versus XIII but they didn’t. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is a pure PS3 release confirmed game director Tetsuya Nomura at a press conference earlier this morning.
