According to the developer, once the player’s character has completed their Chapter 1 storyline, they will be able to choose a Legacy Last Name. This last name will be unique and will be shared by all of the player’s characters. Of course, this will force players to be more careful about choosing a last name, because while it might be cool to have “Starkiller” as all of your characters’ last name, having “D0uZhb4g” will be less cool.
Once the Legacy Last Name has been unlocked, all of the player’s characters will contribute to the player’s Legacy Experience Points. As it might be assumed, the experience points will level the player’s Legacy. The direct affect to the player has not been detailed, but BioWare says there will be a “reward” for each level.
Players can choose to have the Legacy Last Name displayed, either as a last name or as a title. Of course, the Last Name can be hidden altogether. Each player character can choose whether to display it or not.
