A closed beta programme has begun its registration process for F1 Online: The Game, announces Codemasters. It’s a free-to-play racing and management game featuring all F1 goodies.
Cars, drivers and circuits from Formula 1 will be present in the game, as Codemasters Studios develops it. Those accepted into the beta are given rewards when it launches in Q1 2012.
Players get to be ”the driver and the team boss” that mixes top-down racing with management of teams. Online multiplayer includes Grand Prix events along with ”quick-fire challenges and Time Trials.”
”Players will have the opportunity to create their own racing team and become immersed in a world of Formula One on a grand scale; choosing their team name, designing a livery and leading the development of a personal franchise. As racer and team boss, they will manage the commercial, research, production and race crew functions required for success on track,” reads the press release.
Codemasters is developing F1 Online: The Game in-house with the Unity game engine, which means it will be browser-based. To register for the closed beta visit the official website. Check out the first look trailer below.
