Apples to Apples is a card game in which the lead player plays a Red Apple card that has an adjective on it, and the other players must play Green Apple cards with nouns on them face down. The lead player reads out the Green Apple cards randomly, and each player votes on the card they think best describes the Red Apple best. The player whose card is voted on by the other players earns the point.
The console versions will feature both online and offline multiplayer for up to six players, with customizable play modes and special Golden Apple cards, which are unique to the digital version in that they change the rules on the fly. There will also be a single player mode, which is unusual for a game of this sort; THQ has not revealed how the single player version will be implemented.
THQ has also promised downloadable content, which will include more than 1,000 additional cards, as well as more Golden Apple cards and backgrounds. Apples to Apples will be 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade and $9.99 USD on PlayStation Network.
