Firefly Studios has announced that the 1.9 multiplayer patch has been released for Stronghold 3, which fixes multiplayer and adds all-new units to the game including Siege Towers and Laddermen.
The new units can be built from Siege Camps in multiplayer game modes. Siege Towers are moved to dock against stone walls, loaded with all troop types. Ranged units will attack from the tower when the enemy is within range. Laddermen, on the other hand, set scalable ladders against enemy walls, allowing individual units to climb over walls - until the ladder is pushed away or cut down.
Online stability has also been improved with an automatic resync feature similar to the system used in the original Stronghold and Stronghold: Crusader. In addition, score rebalancing and increased starting goods have been employed, while maps have been reworked to make it easier for players to design and build their castles.
Similarly, an Attack-Move command has been implemented by simply holding down CTRL while right-clicking. This will make troops move to a point, but stop to attack enemies along the way. Another command tweak allows players to stop all building construction so that peasants can be recruited into the army faster. General UI tweaks have also been implemented.
Stronghold 3 was released on the 25th October 2011 for PC. The game earned a 4.0/10 score in Strategy Informer’s review.
