Deep Silver has revealed a sidescrolling beat’em up spinoff to their popular action RPG Sacred series. The spinoff, Sacred Citadel, can best be described as a class-based variation of Castle Crashers, in which each character has their own role, such as melee, magic and archery.
Sacred Citadel will retain the action-RPG’s deep customization and loot systems, as well as a more advanced combat system. For example, while serrated blades are fast and precise they also lack the range and power, while a cumbersome axe enjoys massive area-of-effect damage. In addition, attacks depend on the strength and direction of the player’s assault.
The game also promises to feature Sacred’s wide variety of loot drops, including mew weapons, pieces of armor, and unlockable abilities, which further diversify the player’s character.
Sacred Citadel will be released for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC digital distribution. A trailer was released for the new sidescrolling brawler - check it out in the video below.
