One of the longest running developers in videogame history, Hudson Soft, will be formally dissolved by Konami on the 1st March. The developer had spanned five decades in its long 38 year run, having been founded in 1973.
Konami had purchased the studio last April when it was having financial issues. The publisher stated at the time that it expected ”its acquisition of additional shares will strengthen Hudson’s net worth and will support and enhance its organisation.”
Hudson, with its iconic bee logo, is best known for creating the Bomberman series, as well as Bonk, Star Soldier and Adventure Island. The developer also did work as a contractor, developing such titles as Super Mario Bros. Special and Mario Party for Nintendo, among other projects.
