Bleszinski would love the next Xbox and PlayStation to skip discs. He also reveals he’d love to make a game about ”a lost dog who has to find his way home.” Awww. Unlimited funds? A Firefly game.
Of course the ‘dream’ of no disc-based games on the next-gen hardware is not unique to CliffyB, as many have voiced such an aspiration; trouble lies in Internet connectivity.
The Gears of War creator says that Firefly would be his goal if given ”unlimited funds and processing power” to turn whatever ”film/novel/comic” into a video game. He’d also enjoy adapting super movie The Big Lebowski ”for every system. It’d tie all the gaming platforms together.”
Bleszinski’s sage advice for someone who’d enjoy game programming? ”Stay out of the bar scene.”
”I had this chat with my teenaged nephew the other day. He asked me to send him a picture of my car. So I sent him a picture of all of them with the statement “Not to preach to you, but everyone I know who is this successful was working hard at your age and not partying,” he recalled.
”I barely went out in my teens and 20’s. I was driven and I wanted to make games more than anything else.”
He wrapped up: ”For those of you who want to get in the biz JUST DO IT. Start making something TONIGHT. Grab UDK or whatever’s best for you and START. YOU are the next generation of innovation and I expect to see many of you at GDC at the Indie games festival with your own games in the coming years!”
