Soul Reaver hit PlayStation and PC in 1999, and on Dreamcast in 2000. There were other sequels but now it seems Crystal Dynamics has been given the series to play with.
While details aren’t that juicy yet, word is the studio is busy with a full revival of the IP and following a fresh art direction for the property. An E3 reveal was likely, but then not so much.
The series official main title is Legacy of Kain, but protagonist Soul Reaver stole the spotlight and it’s generally considered the defacto name. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 released in 2001 on PS2 and PC. Then there was Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain in 2002 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003.
Since then the IP has been relatively quiet, barring a PSN release here or there. This is the first time the property is getting a full dust off and hopefully Crystal Dynamics can work their magic. The developer has been lauded for rescuing Lara Croft from obscurity after a long, poor run of games.
