Microsoft is offering refunds for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft for users who purchased the game expecting to be able to play split screen multiplayer on their standard definition television sets. Unfortunately, they found out that the game won’t permit them to play in that mode without an HDTV.
However, the refund won’t be available to those who purchase it now, as the Xbox Live Arcade listing now has a very specific warning to those gamers who only have standard def.
According to a Microsoft rep: “We updated our pre-sale notification to inform customers that an HD screen is required for the split-screen multiplayer feature on Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. If a player does not have an HD screen and purchased this game prior to the notification update, they are eligible for a full refund through customer support.”
Minecraft has become the best and fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade game of all-time since its release on the 9th May. The game received glowing reviews, including an 8.0/10 score from Strategy Informer’s review.
