Warner Bros. Interactive has announced a new The Lord of the Rings-licensed multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), Guardians of Middle-earth, developed by Monolith. The game is a tie-in to the upcoming The Hobbit motion picture and will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
The MOBA will feature five vs. five multiplayer battles with more than 20 guardians based on The Lord of the Rings characters, including Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, and Thráin. The game will feature VOIP as well as ”a comprehensive online stat and leader board system.”
Guardians of Middle-earth will be released this Fall 2012.
