They’re describing the tentatively named ‘Sonic Boom’ as an ”action packed comedy series” aimed at children 6-11. It’ll debut first in the US on Cartoon Network. Tails is on-board.
The series will focus on Sonic & Tails as they go off looking for any crazy adventure, and of course Dr. Eggman will be around with his robots trying to ruin the fun.
”Sonic is the star of the SEGA universe and the stage is now set for him to shine like never before. By teaming up with world-class partners in television animation like Cartoon Network, Genao Productions and GULLI, we’re ensuring that the Sonic legacy will be introduced to a new generation of children across the globe,” said SEGA’s Hiroyuki Miyazaki.
Yes, SEGA would like whole new generations of young minds chasing blue hedgehogs before they hit those troublesome teens year and go chasing pink elephants instead. It’s like needing new generations of smokers to replace the old ones dying off; SEGA needs fresh bodies with arthritis-free wrists and working thumbs for all that Sonic gaming.
Sonic the Hedgehog came to life back in June 1991 and has gone on to sell over 140 million game copies worldwide.
