38 Studio founder Curt Schilling and his legal team have moved to have the court dismiss the lawsuit by The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. that claimed Schilling’s studio defrauded the state, accusing it of ”racketeering and conspiracy”.
The defendents have called the claims “implausible”, with proof that 38 Studios did disclose the company’s financial needs to the appropriate state officials. The filing also states that it cannot be proven that 38 Studios knowingly made false statements to the RIEDC.
The lawsuit revolves around the $75 million 2010 loan that coaxed the developer to move from Massachusets to Rhode Island.
38 Studios released Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and was working on an MMO codenamed Project Copernicus.
