In a statement by president Adel Chaveleh, he noted, ”Today, we had to make the difficult decision to let go of some great game developers. This is never easy, and we’re doing all we can to assist those developers affected. TimeGate is preparing, as is the entire industry, for the transition to next-generation consoles and new business models. As part of this reinvention, all projects and strategic initiatives continue to move forward at the studio.”
The number of layoffs is reportedly 25, which Chaveleh did not confirm.
The studio co-produced Aliens: Colonial Marines with Gearbox Software; each studio has been finger-pointing at each other over its disastrous development cycle and launch.
Aliens: Colonial Marines was released on the 12th February 2013 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Strategy Informer awarded the game a 4.0/10 score in its review.
