UbiSoft has reported that the company enjoyed a profitable 3Q of 2012, chiefly due to the success of Assassin’s Creed 3 and “back catalog” sales. The publisher enjoyed an increase of 23% in year-to-year over Q3 2011, going from €652 million to €802 million.
According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed 3 had record-breaking success with 12 million sell-in and digitally distributed units moved, 70% more than Assassin’s Creed Revelations. Far Cry 3 also exceeded expectations, and moved over 4.5 million sell-in and digitally distributed units.
UbiSoft also saw a slight increase in its back catalog sales of older games, going up 1% to €162 million. The one area it suffered in was the casual segment of their catalog. However, Just Dance 4 managed to sell 8M units on Wii and Xbox 360 Kinect, and was one of the best selling games of the year.
Some of the significant Q4 releases Ubisoft had include the PC version of Trials Evolution, the open beta of Anno Online, and Might & Magic Clash of Heroes on iOS.
