Philippines-based indie developer Final Element games has put their 4X strategy / tower-defense hybrid game Decimation on Indiegogo. The game melds several genres, including real-time strategy and roleplaying as well.
According to the developer, the game is post-apocalyptic, as players take on the role of survivors trying to rebuild society and become the new power, but ”technology that has long sustained the colony is giving in to the ravages of time. Food and water are running low.” The survivors are forced to find lost technology and new resources. The map itself is about the size of Texas, at 640,000 square kilometers.
As with most tower defense games, players can put down turrets to protect themselves from invaders. However, they must gain experience points to level up their characters in Commander Skills, which include Unit Skills (influences the effectiveness of weapons used in combat), (Battlefield Skills) influence the colony’s broader combat capabilities and heavily influences colony defense), and Colony Skills (influence colony productivity and morale.)
In that weren’t enough, though, players must also do the usual 4X strategy tropes - they have to explore, build, research technology and deal with enemies out there.
