ShadowBoxer, the first motion-fitness game developed for the PC has resolved outstanding copyright issues with hip-hop artist Dr. Dre, and is now gearing up for re-release.
Previously known as BeatBoxer and developed by Indie Hero and Shadow Boxer International, the game’s name was changed after Dre’s audio equipment firm, Beats Electronics, took issue with the use of the term ‘beat’ in a hip-hop related title. Hence the name change to ShadowBoxer.
In a statement released to the press earlier today, Indie Hero revealed their good news:
Indie Hero and Shadow Boxer International announced today that, with copyright issues relating to its title resolved, ShadowBoxer, previously known as BeatBoxer, is now ready for deployment onto gaming platforms. Combining motion-sensing rhythm gameplay with hip hop, ShadowBoxer+ provides an intense boxercise workout, bringing body-tracking fitness gaming to the PC and Tablets for the first time, courtesy of developer Indie Hero.
The game will be available again from tomorrow, December 11th, on iOS Devices through the App Store at the price of $1.99. A Windows 8 version is due out shortly afterwards, though a date is yet to be announced.
