Each riot has different goals for either side. Rioters will try to keep the violence to a minimum to prevent being labelled as violent criminals, while the police will try to use minimal force. However, things will, and often do, get completely out of hand.
The developers are based in Italy, and complain on their press release, ”Living in a country drowning in debt and corruption, it is practically impossible for Team “Riot” to find way to fund the project in Italy and we are therefore asking for your help. We need you to spread the voice on an important issue through the medium of videogames. Stop listening to the lies of the media, shut down the television and get yourself in the line, to fight for your freedom of speech.”
The game got funded through IndieGogo and got approved in Steam Greenlight, and now Team Riot, headed by former Valve editor/cinematographer Leonard Mechiari, has made a blog post, stating gamers will be able to create their own riots.
”Players will be able to re-create the riots that are currently going on in the world, and use the video game to spread awareness about them. Through user generated content and developers update, RIOT wants to achieve an informational goal,” explains the developer, who then adds, ”Too many times these events are not covered by the national media, so many lost everything and still keep on fighting. Too many voices are dying unheard. Something has to be done.”
