However the texture pop-in woes affecting the game if both are installed can be solved simply by installing the ‘play disc’ to a separate USB drive, meaning no bottleneck.
Installing the ‘play disc’ right next to the mandatory game installation on the same HDD for GTA V simply overtaxes the Xbox 360 as it tries to access all that data.
The tech guys at Digital Foundry found it to be a simple solution then of just making sure the two are kept on separate storage units, much like Rockstar intended. Game footage was captured of the rather atrocious texture pop-in issues being suffered if the two discs are on the HDD - it’s not pretty.
It should be noted that having a rubbish USB drive will detrimentally affect performance.
Grand Theft Auto V releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 today, September 17th.
