Reverb Publishing and THREAKS announced today that Writers’ Guild of Great Britain award-winner and BAFTA-nominated writer Rhianna Pratchett will be helping with the script and storyline for its upcoming indie action-adventure game, Beatbuddy.
Rhianna Pratchett is known for working on titles such as Heavenly Sword, the Overlord series and the recent Tomb Raider reboot. Pratchett learned of Beatbuddy from a Grammy-nominated artist called Austin Wintory who is creating an exclusive song and level for the game.
“No matter what you’ve written in the past, it’s the challenges and the people you work with who really matter,” said Pratchett. “I cut my teeth on smaller indie titles, so it’s great to get to do more work in that space again with the THREAKS team.”
“When we started with the story of Beatbuddy last year, we initially held off contacting Rhianna because we assumed that she’d be too busy or might not be interested in a small indie project,” said Denis Rogic, art director of THREAKS. “It turned out that it was exactly the kind of thing she was looking for. It’s truly amazing knowing that we have Austin Wintory and Rhianna Pratchett providing their talents to our game.”
Beatbuddy is an action-adventure game that allows players to interact with the environment and a selection of creatures to open up paths and solve puzzles, it also features a patent-pending sound technology that syncs in-game animations with the music.
THREAKS are developing Beatbuddy, which will be released sometime in 2013 for PC, MAC and Linux.
