The new owner of the space RTS franchise isn’t known but is likely to be announced around mid-May, when the IP officially changes hands. teamPixel will now pursue their own space RTS.
The small indie group had proposed a mobile version of the game as well as a full sequel. They produced a working prototype to showcase their work so far.
”The auction for the Homeworld license ended April 15, 2013, and while we reached qualified bidder status for the bankruptcy auction, we were unable to raise the necessary funds to remain competitive against the other parties at the auction,” teamPixel posted on Kickstarter in an update.
”…we will still be moving forward with our own Homeworld-inspired space RTS, but under our own intellectual property. We hope all of you will stay in touch and follow us during the production of our game.”
