It’s in the works by indie Creative Intelligence Arts, led by veteran devs all over the world. The first stretch goal ‘doubled’ the monster count for this squad-based JRPG.
Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu is attached to Project Phoenix, and he’ll now be composing some more music. It’s a JRPG ”primarily built” for the world.
”Project Phoenix is a fantasy themed squad-based real-time strategy game combined with Japanese RPG design influences. The game draws you in with its breathtaking fantasy world, deep storyline, Japanese character designs, and a memorable cast, most notably, the band of heroes under your command,” describes the Kickstarter.
”Furthermore, its intuitive real-time tactical combat is dynamic, fluid, and streamlined, allowing you to experience the strategic options without being bogged down by overwhelming archaic battle systems.”
The next stretch goal is at $650k which promises to deliver a ”detailed city system (full modelling of the cities and towns). Customizeable character creation!” There’s also much more ambitious $1,025,000 goal post for a ”fully explorable overworld” with additional zones and side stories at $1,650,000.
