Automata Source has announced that the sequel to its revolutionary 1984 multimedia game, Deus Ex Machina 2, is now on Kickstarter looking for funding. The game is being written by Mel Croucher, the creator of the original game, and Christopher Lee would be taking on the role of The Narrator.
The original game was the first videogame to ever have a fully synchronised soundtrack, narration, celebrity artists and music. The player manipulated a sentient “defect” which has formed in “the machine”, and guides it from conception, through growth, evolution and eventually death. According to Croucher, the game was based on “The Seven Ages of Man” from William Shakespeare’s play As You Like It; the game is full of quotations from the work.
Gamers interesting in backing the game can do so at the Kickstarter page here.
