Many of newly dissolved THQ’s properties were attached to auction bids by many studios including UbiSoft and Koch Media, among others, but one major license was notably absent: the WWE license.
The WWE license has been wracked by controversy, centering on THQ’s inability to repay the $45M loan to WWE. Unfortunately for WWE, the loan was unsecured, meaning that it may never see the money again.
However, according to IGN, the WWE franchise was picked up by Take Two Interactive, which owns 2K Sports. This was strengthened by a report that an EA Sports spokesman stated that the company had ”no plans to get into WWE business.”
Stay tuned.
