After a month long campaign Parallax achieved only $33,121 out of $350,000 from just 550 backers. Developer Prototype X may be down, but their Parallax project is not out.
They still intend to see the space 4X conquer the stars above, with or without Kickstarter. They’re issuing a ‘backer survey’ despite not officially supported by Kickstarter.
”Well, if we can raise $3k/ minute for the next 112 minutes, we’ll hit our goal,” joked the studio, adding: ”Seriously, though… We’re clearly not going to do that, but neither are we going to say “oh, poor us, we’re not willing to do it the hard way”. Because, y’know, we already said we’re doing it no matter what.”
”Since Kickstarter only lets you send out surveys if the project is successfully funded, I’m sending out this abridged version as an email.” Prototype X ask a number of things from those who tried to get Parallax off the ground and also mentioned backers would get plenty of notice before ”there’s a playable demo ready to try out.”
The backer survey questions are:
◾In general, what part would you like to play in the project, and to what extent?
◾What part would you prefer to play in the creations of aliens, technology and other content for the game? (i.e.: just contributing and discussing ideas, or working on the details to help get them incorporated and properly balanced)
◾How much time would you want/ be able to spend on the project?
◾Do you want to be a beta tester? (You’d get to play the game early, but it would have bugs, and you’d need to be willing to figure out how to reproduce them, and report them)
◾What’s your natural “role” in the team? (Concept Generation, Organizer, Completer, Little Bit of Everything, etc.)
