Brainchild’s The Slaughter is a project on Kickstarter with two weeks left and less than 50% of its funding to go before private investigator Sydney Emerson can explore the ”seedy streets” of Victorian London.
It’s a point-and-click adventure with a noir style as Emerson is on the trail of a serial killer. Its sole creator Alex Francois, a published author, is seeking £8,000 to finish the adventure.
He’s going for a more classic feel to his point-and-click adventuring, like in time old LucasArts games, but he pursues ”dark adult themes” so it’s not all eccentric British twits.
”A serial killer is terrorizing the streets of Victorian London, and private investigator Sydney Emerson has hit a new low between finding lost dogs and receiving alleyway beatings. A turn of events sees Sydney forgoing his selfish nature and thrusting himself into perilous and increasingly surreal situations, walking the line between dreams and reality.”
”Explore the seedy streets of Victorian London, searching the slums, taverns, opium dens and even Sydney’s dreams and hallucinations for leads, meeting a host of interesting, insane and eccentrically British characters while exploring the deeper human condition,” describes Alex Francois on his Kickstarter.
”Gameplay draws on the best aspects of point-and-click adventures; the tricky yet logical puzzles, the fun interactions and lines of dialogue players can choose to seek out if they wish, and the little details that make the world seem alive. As in real life, character dialogue can be funny, banal, abstract, sombre or aggressive depending on their mood.”
”The nature of Sydney’s conversation options will also change throughout the game as his state of mind deteriorates, the trauma he encounters having a realistic effect on his human interactions.”
The Slaughter Kickstarter has 14 days remaining with just under £3,500 left to reach its goal.
