1С Game Studios has announced that its historical WWI flight sim Ilya Muromets is now available in Early Access form for the rather reasonable price of $19.99.
Ilya Muromets is set in the skies over the Eastern Front during World War I, and allows players to pilot a variety of planes from the very earliest days of military aviation. Or accidentally crash them into a trench, depending on your flight skills.
Are there any others World War One flight games? Can’t think of any off the top of my head. It seems like an interesting period in history to cover. Plus we get to fly the monstrous four-engine ‘Ilya Muromets’ itself, a beast of a plane that was essentially the first heavy bomber and laid the groundwork for long-range strategic aviation for the next few decades.
There’s obviously a bunch of other planes to play with from various Axis and Allies nations, a huge map of what was then the Russian front (modern day Ukraine), multiplayer, a mission builder and several singleplayer scenarios.
Ilya Muromets is set for a full release this October.
