Everybody knows that the best kind of kill is the chain-kill, and the recently released cel-shaded arcade shooter Wrack is packed to the brim with them.
Along with the very promising Toxikk, it’s part of what seems like a slight shift back towards the classic arena shooter that ruled the roost in before crouching behind cover and… aiming at people became the cool new thing.
Packed with fast-paced shooting that rewards players for killing things as quickly as possible, Wrack has been attracting praise from a few famous faces. ”It reminds me of a first-person Mega Man,” said Keiji Inafune, who as the co-designer of Mega Man probably knows what he’s talking about. John Romero simply says; ”Wrack is great!”
I also really, really like the cel-shaded art style, with is something that was quite popular for a brief period a few years back, but hasn’t really been used in many games lately. With a bunch of Time Attack and Score Attack modes, Steamworks support and a boss-filled singleplayer campaign, Wrack should keep shooter fans occupied for a good long while.
