Wargaming has rolled out an update for World of Tanks that adds a new Tank Rally mode. This lets players race a custom-built M24 Chaffee Sport on a modified version of the Port map. If tank racing isn’t a real-life motorsport, then by god it should be.
Players will be able to careen around in the new three-versus-three mode until October 12, with race winners each earning a special medal.
Log in and you’ll find the limited edition M24 Chaffee Sport, the only vehicle you can use in Tank Rally, parked in your garage. As a light tank tuned for racing the M24 is a bit zippier than you might be used to, though speed alone won’t win you that coveted first place.
“The new race mode pits teams of three against each other in mad dash to the finish line culminating in fierce battle to capture a control point,” Wargaming explains in an accompanying press release. ”The track itself is filled with obstacles, ramps and explosions mixed with the onslaught of enemy fire challenging players to use their skills to emerge victorious.”
Survive and cling onto pole position without getting blown up and you’ll net the unique ‘Racer 2014’ medal. You can jump on over to the World of Tanks website to download the client and find out more.
