Pike and Shot is a strategy game featuring musketeers and pikemen, which is being developed by Slitherine and designed by Richard Bodley Scott, who is known for creating the Field of Glory table-top wargame rules.
Pike and Shot takes place between the 16th and 17th centuries, where medieval battefield tactics switched over to a more modern setting by adding musketeers and artillery to the armies. It’s this period that Pike and Shot focuses on, as players are tasked with taking advantage of musketeers alongside pikemen and cavalry to engage their enemies in battle.
Taking advantage of the Battle Academy engine, Pike and Shot sees players take on the challenge of 3 campaigns, a skirmish mode with a random map generator that allows it to generate an infinite number of “What-if” scenarios and a multiplayer mode powered by the PBEM++ system.
The game features 30 historical scenarios that cover the main battles of three of the most important conflicts of the 16th and 17th centuries:
