Controversial title Earth: Year 2066 has been pulled from Steam after complaints that the post-apocalyptic shooter was unfit for release.
Developer Killing Day Studios released the game on April 17 over Steam Early Access for $19.99, but players soon began to complain that it was buggy and borderline unplayable. In addition to this Reddit campaign to get the game pulled, Escapist reviews editor Jim Sterling was publicly critical of the title, and by extension Steam’s library filtering process.
Over on the Steam forum, a Valve representative confirmed that the game would be taken down, and that customers could expect a refund if they applied before May 19.
“On Steam, developers make their own decisions about promotion, features, pricing and publication,” reads the post. ”However, Steam does require honesty from developers in the marketing of their games. We have removed Earth: Year 2066 from Early Access on Steam. Customers who purchased the game will be able to get a refund on the store page until Monday May 19th.”
