The latest game series to crawl from under the shattered monolith that was GameSpy is Command & Conquer.
Fans of the venerable RTS franchise have banded together to provide a new server for several titles in the series, in order to replace those shut down when the multiplayer GameSpy service was discontinued.
C&C Online is a fan-run server that offers continued multiplayer for Command & Conquer titles Generals, Zero Hour, Command & Conquer 3, Kane’s Wrath, and Red Alert 3. It basically emulates the GameSpy servers as they were, all you need to do is register with Revora and download a free client.
The team aren’t asking anyone to pay for the service, but there is an option to donate some money to the cause if you’re a charitable sort.
