There’s a tech demo available on Steam for upcoming metaphysical puzzler The Talos Principle, featuring four levels from the main game.
It’s described by the developers as a ‘Public Test’ rather than a demo, and is intended as a way for them to test out for “stress and compatibility” before the full release.
The public test also allows you to run a benchmarking AI bot on your PC to gather and share benchmark specs. The Talos Principle is a “philosophical first-person puzzle game” from Croteam, best known for the rather different Serious Sam series, which focused more on shooting headless footsoldiers than solving metaphysical puzzles.
“As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology,” reads the official blurb. “Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith, or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose And what are you going to do about it?”
The Talos Principle releases in full on December 11 for Linux, Mac, and PC.
