The medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance is still open for business when it comes to pledges late to the party, following its £1,106,371 Kickstarter success. Reward tiers are still available to late backers.
If you’ve already pledged then you can also upgrade to a higher tier. Their next stretch goal stands at $2m and they’re just over $120k shy. They want to hire better actors for performance capture.
The Czech developer has started working on how they want to model the RPG’s characters and they’re using a local company who have a ”top-notch 3D scanner” to start experimenting.
”So far, it looks like the characters in our game will be very detailed 3D scans of real people. Apart from that, we also started dealing with how to get the figures in motion, not only their bodies, but also their faces. That can be a bit of a problem with an RPG, because it contains a huge amount of text and it is practically unthinkable (and especially unaffordable) to use the best possible method – performance capture – for all of them,” explained Warhorse.
”So for now it looks like we will use performance capture for the cut scenes, and some other solution, that allows batch processing of large amount of data for the branched dialogues and ingame stuff.”
The independent studio also gives an update on some of the medieval RPG’s features with archery ”practically done,” and the character stats tied to it. ”The scripters then set up shooting of forest game, so you can set out hunting hare with your new bow and I gotta say anyone who manages to hit one of those bunnies is a sharpshooter. It really is awesome.”
