Tripwire Interactive certainly isn’t skimping on the gore in its upcoming zombie co-op sequel, Killing Floor 2. In fact the development team has come up with whole new dismemberment system that takes the blood n’ guts to a whole new level.
The M.E.A.T system (that’s Massive Evisceration And Trauma by the way) is heavily inspired by Soldier of Fortune 2, a game that elevated poking holes in people into a disgusting art form.
Every zombie in the game can be blown apart in a variety of ways, with 22 different spots on the body that can be blown off. ”Pretty much any piece of the body that you can shoot, you can blow off of the Zed,” says creative director William Munk.
Combined with the series’ trademark slow-mo cam, that’s going to make for some gleefully nasty kills. Even when you’ve completely blown a Zed up, his brains and organs will be splattered all over the floor. One of the developers’ guilty grin when he explains that you can kick a man’s spleen around the room is priceless.
Tripwire is still hard at work on Killing Floor 2, which doesn’t yet have a planned release date.
