2K Czech, developers of the Mafia series, are making some major changes to their infrastructure, moving their Prague office to Brno and shifting several developers over to the 2K headquarters in California.
After initial speculation, 2K have now confirmed the reports.
“We have relocated and consolidated our 2K Czech team from our Prague facility to centralise resources in our location in Brno. Additionally, we are transferring some development resources from Prague and Brno to 2K headquarters in Novato, CA,” they said in a statement to Eurogamer.
“This transition will both strengthen the integration of the 2K Czech team with our award winning development teams, and better align cross-functional business practices. As part of this realignment, we are adjusting our staffing levels, resulting in the elimination of some positions.”
2K Prague is now set to close, with 10 key 2K Czech developers heading over to 2K’s central office in Novato, California. That’s a lot of 2K’s in one sentence. I’ll stop now.
The company was apparently working on Mafia 3, the next installment in the popular series. There’s no news on how these major changes will affect that game’s production. We’ll keep you in the know with any further information.
