The Bedrock Beta underway for War for the Overworld continues and developer Subterranean Games has now teased more of what’s coming in the next major milestone with v0.4.0, which is busy being finalized.
This new major update adds a minimap, prop ghosts to see what rooms and items look like when placed, better tile selection, unique creature lairs, sealed ceilings and…
…less blinding tile toppers, which signify what floor tiles and reinforced walls are claimed and by who. This is a vital part of the game as you could imagine.
The British team is also very pleased to announce they can begin updating the Mac versions of War for the Overworld again after the Unity engine QA team managed to successfully recreate the crippling bug Subterranean had come across which ballooned the game size.
”We’re happy to announce that the QA team over at Unity has been able to replicate the problem that has been preventing us from updating our OS X build of the game. They’ve escalated it to their engineers who are now working on a fix, which means we’ll hopefully see this resolved in the near future,” posted Subterranean.
War for the Overworld continues its march toward full release as more Bedrock Beta versions release. The previews for update 0.4.0 are available to read through here and here.
Bedrock beta 0.4.0 preview features:
▪ Minimap
No more will your campaign be shrouded in mystery! Behold the mighty minimap, with it you can track minion movement, observe breached walls, and easily navigate across your dungeon with naught but a single click.
▪ Prop Ghosts
We’ve expanded upon the prop placement preview system that we added in the previous patch. Now, instead of strangely coloured tiles, you will now see ghostly previews of each prop as you drag out a room.
▪ Tile Selection Improvements
Thanks to some feedback we’ve reworked tile selection to now target the top of each block instead of the bottom. This means that digging, room building, and dropping objects will now be easier and far more consistent throughout the game.
▪ Shader Forge
By the time the patch rolls out, we’ll have replaced every shader in the game with improved, leaner versions thanks to Shader Forge – a fantastic new Unity plugin that was recently released to the asset store. As a result, you’ll see marked visual improvements across the board as well as some performance boosts with this update.
▪ Unique Lairs
While we appreciate a good death as much as the next Underlord, we’ve decided that units committing suicide instead of sleeping has wrecked too much havoc on our insurance rates.
▪ Sealed Ceilings
After months of training seminars workers are now capable of crafting a more suitable ceiling for your dungeon that doesn’t resemble the endless dark void of the Aether.
▪ Less Blinding Tile Toppers
We heard you loud and clear regarding tile toppers and have reworked them to be far more aesthetically pleasing (see also: less blinding).
