Germany and UK-based indie thesetales has brought their sci-fi, procedurally generated sandbox survival RPG to Kickstarter. It’s called Proven lands and our bid at survival will be guided by an AI storyteller.
It’s a 3D ”science-fiction sandbox survival” game as they describe it, where we are an explorer in a world filled with physics, biology and chemistry - not to mention ‘reasonable’ sci-fi.
Their influences for the project include Star Trek, Don’t Starve, Project Zomboid and Starbound. They plan to develop an ”endless procedural terrain with 30+ different types”.
Right now Proven Lands only has a desert biome but it’s still in its pre-alpha tech demo state. There’s to be a main story and a meta game driven by the AI. The actual main narrative is optional to follow but there for those who prefer a story. We’re not a scientist or soldier but a ”working class hero or heroine.”
Proven Lands needs £299,000 for a successful Kickstarter, and over 660 backers already pledge more than £13,400. An early pre-alpha tech demo is available to try out from the official website, in 32bit and 64bit versions.
