In MMO Skyforge you can become a god. And what do all respectable gods need? A bowing and scraping band of worshipers, that’s what.
In this new developer diary from Mail.ru Group`s Allods Team (is that the least catchy studio name ever?) and Obsidian, creative directors Alexander Mishulin and Eric DeMilt discuss these followers, known as the ‘Orders of Aelion’.
Every character in Skyforge starts as an immortal, but can eventually gather enough power to ascend to godhood. Once you start your journey to power, you’ll gather a band of followers who can be sent off to perform tasks in your name. They even build a big statue of you, which is nice of them. Your warrior servants can be sent out to battle monsters, while healers can be tasked with curing infected villages and so on.
All this increases your reputation across the world, but also levels up your followers. You can nudge them in different directions by assigning one adept as a mentor for another or increasing their levels yourself through a ”special ceremony.” To take on some of the more dangerous tasks in the realm, you’ll need to rank your Order up to the highest levels.
This is all set on top of the usual MMO adventuring and fighting. The most powerful gods in the realms will get the shiniest statues in the Hall of Greatness - become top dog across the entire server and you’ll get a statue made entirely of precious stones. It’s good to be a god.
Sounds pretty interesting. Should help separate Skyforge from the usual MMO routine. For more information on the game, which is set to kick off a closed Beta by the end of 2014, hop on over to the official website.
