Developers Wargaming have announced that Update 9.0: New Frontiers for their online tank action game World of Tanks is now available worldwide. Aside from several big changes to the game’s visuals, players will be able to take part in several historical tank battles.
So first off, those graphical improvements. Wargaming are promising enhanced graphics for all battle arenas, tanks, and in-game objects, as well as high definition models for ten armored vehicles including the iconic trio of the American M4 Sherman, Soviet T-54, and German Tiger I. The new PBS (Physically based shading) model will offer ”a more realistic and detailed display of various surfaces, including metal, wood, paint, rock, etc.”
Aside from the upgraded visuals, update 9.0 will also bring a new Historical Battles game mode. There will be three infamous tank battles to play in the release: the Battle of Kursk, the Lake Balaton Offensive and the Battle of the Bulge. You can read more about the new game mode here.
