The previously announced ”new stage of development” for free-to-play MOBA Transformers Universe is certainly taking hold as Jagex announces they’re turning off the juice with Hasbro bowing out.
Jagex are now focusing on their own internal IPs moving forward, such as RuneScape, while Hasbro looks elsewhere to keep Transformers in the digital game space. Servers shut off January 31st.
”If there are any staffing issues that arise out of this additional level of restructuring, then we will discuss them with the parties concerned first and foremost,” said developer and publisher. ”As ever, we will make any possible outcomes public, but only at the appropriate time.”
Transformers Universe is a third-person MOBA and was announced back in 2011. Eventually it went into closed beta this March and open beta in July. Now the free-to-play game is closing January 2015.
